Stefano Pagliani - Violin

Konzertmeister of the Teatro alla Scala in Milan and of the same Philharmonic Orchestra from 1990 to 2000, he is featured in Sony Classical recordings made by the Teatro dell'Opera in Milan (particularly as soloist in "La strada" - N. Rota and "I Lombardi" - G. Verdi cond. R. Muti).

He has also recorded for EMI (Vivaldi, Pergolesi), Arcadia, Agora, Dynamic, Tactus, Fonit Cetra (complete sonatas of Brahms, Schumann, Ravel, Prokofiev and Respighi, complete string trio of Beethoven, octet op. 20 by Mendelssohn, etc. ) He has played as Konzertmeister in the most important Italian orchestras, such as Maggio Musicale (Florence), S. Cecilia (Rome) and founded the "Trio d'archi della Scala", the "Virtuosi Italiani", the "Solisti della Scala".

In 2007 he participated as a soloist in the "Opening Konzert" of the Lucerne Festival, performing music by Ligeti and Bartok. From 2004 to 2015, Claudio Abbado invited him as a member of the Lucerne Philharmonic Orchestra, consisting of the best first parts of European orchestras and the "Mozart Orchestra."

Lorin Maazel called him the most influential Konzertmeister present in Italy, he has gained great artistic-musical experience, earning the appreciation and esteem of the most famous conductors-Metha, Abbado, Sawallish, Maazel, Sinopoli, Chung, Gergiev, Muti.

 

Thanks to his deep experience with these widely known batons, he has also taken the opportunity to conduct, especially at International Festivals, and has paid attention to the Italian opera repertoire, especially Puccini's, conducting Butterfly, Boheme and Turandot, often in collaboration with the great soprano Dimitra Theodossiou.

A guest of the most important international festivals, his recent tours include South America, Canada and North America (UN building and Carnegy New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Van Couver), Asia (Japan, Korea, Taiwan), China, Shanghai, Hong Kong, and in Beijing directing the NCPA.

He is a lecturer at the New Philharmonie Academy in Hong Kong, the Sherazade Academy in Rome, the Fiesole School of Music, and the "Toronto School of Music" in Canada.

Lately, in collaboration with the great Latvian violinist Ilya Grubert, he has conducted monographic projects including Beethoven, Dvorak, Tchaikovsky, Brahms, Bruch.

He has devoted his vast knowledge as Konzertmeister and conductor to preparing and conducting youth orchestras, such as the Accademia della Scala, the Asian Youth Orchestra, the Orchestra of Magna Graecia and the Orchestra Nuova Scarlatti.

To this end, in 2019 he founded the "Italian String School," an innovative project in which he brings together great musicians to join him in teaching and performing during master classes and festivals.

The project involves students from all over Italy and the world, who can find in it unique opportunities to improve, practice, perform and keep in touch with the musical world of competitions, auditions and concerts.
