John Caruso - Electronic Music
Giovanni Caruso completed his musical studies in piano and composition, later graduating in classical guitar in 1988 at the Conservatorio Musicale 'T. Schipa' of Lecce. Since 1990 he has expanded his repertoire by devoting himself to the study of the Renaissance and Baroque lute, vocal technique, and choir and orchestra conducting. He specialized in conducting at the Accademia Musicale Pescarese with Gilberto Serembe and Donato Renzetti.
He founded and conducts several vocal ensembles specializing in ancient and romantic repertoire, collaborating with renowned singers (Furio Zanasi, Sharon Rostorf-Zamir, Monica Benvenuti, Alice Quintavalla, Silvia Pasini).
As a conductor, producer, guitarist, and lutenist, he has made numerous recordings for the Brilliant Classics, Piano Classics, Da Vinci, Tactus, Stradivarius, Naxos, Toccata Classics, Arcophon, Vigiesse labels, and for Radio Rai.
He was awarded first prize in classical guitar in the April Spring Festival in Pyongyang (North Korea) and the 'P. Taraffo' in Genoa, Italy. With his newly founded orchestra 'Capella Tiberina,' he premiered two unpublished cantatas by Bernardo Pasquini at the 'Anima Mundi' Festival in Pisa.
As a composer and arranger, he collaborates in the creation of soundtracks and music for various ensembles (ancient and modern instruments, choir, orchestra) in film and television. He has published with RaiTrade, Flipper Music and collaborated with Opel Automobili.
He founded and directs the Ensemble Vocale Flos florum, with repertoire ranging from Flemish to contemporary polyphony. He carries out an intense concert activity in Italy and abroad. He was recently awarded the "Jean Coste Music Prize" as a Roman musician of great talent.
